Candle Safety
Burning candles in your home is both a luxury and a responsibility. Ensuring that you are doing so while taking necessary precautions creates a safe environment for you and your family.
Things to do
1. The first burn of your new candle should be long enough (around 4 hours) to ensure that the melt pool reaches the edges of the candle, or almost. This prevents tunneling. Not to worry, a little bit of 'hang up' is okay, it will catch up on the 2nd or 3rd burn.
2. Trim your wick starting from the 2nd or 3rd burn. Be mindful not to over trim, as this will cause your candle to tunnel if the flame is not big enough to adequately burn. You can use wick trimmers, nail clippers or tiny scissors.
3. Burn times should not exceed 4 hours at a time. Do not leave a burning candle unattended, and never leave the house with a candle lit.
4. If the flame is noticeably big, sooting and flickering, trim the wick. If this doesn't address the problem, please contact us. If you have followed all the directions and your candle is tunneling, please let us know. Furthermore, there are easily accessible tricks online to fix this should you want to try.
